Job Summary
Plan, organize and deliver an instructional program in an online environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This position requires daytime work. This is a contract position available for one year. The successful candidate will be required to deliver instruction in specific content (Math, ELA, Science or Social Studies) areas using OdysseyWare course materials. This is a 12-month instructional position.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for all St. Helena Virtual Academy students in one specific content area: ELA, Math, Science, or Social Studies.
- Maintain regular communications with other school staff, students and school personnel during daytime hours.
- Provide instruction in an online environment beginning July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.
- Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
- Provide appropriate feedback on work.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development including grading/responding to online discussions, contacting students via e-mail or instant messaging on a regular basis.
- Post course announcements to students as necessary.
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law and school regulations.
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers and community.
- Prepare required reports on student performance and activities.
- Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
- Participate in training and presentations including professional development/training sessions.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.
